Why does a text cost 2x?
A text holds 160 characters. Past that, it goes as two texts that join back into one on the phone, and it costs 2x. Your Sends tab counts every text that did, and each 2x row shows its length.
Why a text runs over
Your real values are longer than your samples. Your workspace measures each text with its samples: a name, an address, a visit time. When a real send carries a longer name or address, the text grows with it.
You added words. A line you turned on, or words you added to a line, make the text longer every time it sends.
Three ways to make it one text again
- Shorter wording. In Edit message, turn off a line you can do without, or tighten its words. The count at the top shows where you land as you go.
- A shorter way to reschedule. The end of each text has two reschedule lines: a link, and a number to call. One is shorter than the other. Keep the one that fits.
- Samples as long as your real values. Set each sample to your longest real one: your longest customer name, your longest address. Then the count shows the true length while you edit, before a text goes out.
Or let your AI tool do it. On the Sends tab, Ask your AI tool copies a note naming the text and how many went at 2x. Paste it to your tool, and it lays out the ways to fix it and makes the one you pick.
It’s free while you build
Texts to your test phones cost nothing. Costs start once your registration is approved and you’re live, so now is the time to bring your texts under one.
